How Oral Language Can Increase Students' Ability to Comprehend?
We studied both dialogic reading and interactive read alouds in Reading in the Elementary School. Students who struggle with reading comprehension benefit largely from tools like dialogic reading and interactive read alouds. . Both strategies provide an opportunity for teachers to model positive comprehension behaviors such as: *Asking questions about what is happening in the book *Taking note of emotions in characters, problem and solution and Changes over time in the story *Discussing illustrations *Building connections to the text *Highlighting Vocabulary or text specific words The link below shows a teacher using dialogic reading to enhance her read aloud with a group of young students.
